Where to Stay Near Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ

Page, Arizona is where nearly everyone stays when visiting Antelope Canyon. The town is about ten minutes from our canyon check-in, and it has the great majority of the area’s lodging, restaurants, and services.

Here is how the options compare, and what to know before you book.

Where to base yourself

Staying in Page

Page has the full range, from national chain hotels to smaller independents and vacation rentals. It is walkable in the center, everything is within a few minutes’ drive, and you are close to Horseshoe Bend and the lake as well as the canyon.

The catch is demand. Page is a small town absorbing a large number of visitors, and rooms in summer book out well in advance and get expensive. If you are traveling between roughly May and September, book lodging as early as you book your tour.

Lake Powell and Wahweap

Staying out by the marina puts you on the water, which is worth it if boating or kayaking is a real part of your trip. It is about fifteen minutes from the canyon, so you are not giving up much convenience.

Camping

There are campgrounds around Page and Lake Powell, plus dispersed camping on nearby public land. It is a good option in shoulder season, though summer heat and afternoon storms are real considerations.

Staying farther out

Big Water, Utah is about twenty five minutes away and often cheaper, with fewer services. Kanab is a bit over an hour and makes sense if you are also visiting Zion or Bryce, since it sits between them and Page.

Anything farther than about an hour starts to work against you, because early tour times mean early departures.

Book in this order

1. Canyon tour first. Times are fixed and limited by permit.

2. Lodging second, once you know which day and time you are locked into.

3. Everything else after. Horseshoe Bend and the lake are flexible.

Doing it the other way around is how people end up with a hotel booked for a night when no tours are available.
