Closest Airport to Antelope Canyon: Where to Fly

The closest airport to Antelope Canyon is Page Municipal Airport (PGA), right in town and about 10 minutes from our check-in for Lower Antelope Canyon. Contour Airlines flies there daily from Phoenix. Most visitors still fly into Las Vegas or Phoenix and drive about four and a half hours, because those airports have far more flights and usually lower fares.

Which one is right depends on your budget, how much driving you want to do, and what else is on your trip. Here is how they compare.

Airports near Antelope Canyon, by drive time

Flying into Page (PGA)

Page Municipal Airport sits on 10th Avenue in town, minutes from the hotels and less than 10 minutes from our check-in. The City of Page lists Contour Airlines as its airline, with daily flights to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor, so most travelers connect in Phoenix from their home airport.

Why it is worth a look: it skips the four and a half hour drive each way, which can give you most of an extra day in Page.

What to weigh: it is one route on smaller planes, fares tend to run higher than flying into a hub, and seats are limited in peak season. Schedules can change, so confirm your flights for your dates before you build a trip around them.

Getting around: Avis and Hertz rent cars at the airport, and local taxi companies serve the terminal. Book a rental car ahead, especially from spring through fall. A taxi can get you to our check-in, but a car makes the rest of Page, from Horseshoe Bend to Lake Powell, far easier.

Flying into Las Vegas or Phoenix

For most visitors, one of the big hubs is the practical answer. Both have frequent flights from nearly everywhere, competitive fares, and every rental car company, and both drives are scenic rather than something to endure.

Phoenix also gives you a hybrid option: fly into Sky Harbor and connect to Page on Contour instead of driving.

Flagstaff and St. George

Flagstaff is the closest airport after Page, about two and a quarter hours away on US-89. It is a small regional airport, so most trips connect through a hub. Our Flagstaff to Antelope Canyon guide covers the drive.

St. George, in southern Utah, is roughly two and three quarter hours away through Kanab. It makes the most sense if you are also visiting Zion, which is about an hour from St. George.

Watch the clock

Page, and our tours, stay on Arizona time all year with no daylight saving. Here is how that lines up with where you land:

• Phoenix and Flagstaff: always the same time as Page.
• Las Vegas: the same time as Page from March to early November, and one hour behind Page the rest of the year.
• St. George and Salt Lake City: one hour ahead of Page from March to early November, and the same time in winter.

Timing your arrival

If you land in Las Vegas or Phoenix in the afternoon, you will reach Page after dark. Plan your canyon tour for the next day rather than trying to fly, drive, and tour on the same day. If you fly into Page, leave a buffer between your landing and your tour time in case of a delay.

You will want a car either way. We do not run a shuttle from town, the check-in is outside the town center, and the other sights are spread out.

Book the canyon before the flight

Tour times are fixed and limited, and popular times fill weeks ahead in summer. It is far easier to build flights around a confirmed tour time than to find a tour that fits flights you already bought. Check tour availability and reserve, then book your travel around it.
